Position and unroll the detail strip square to the line of the eaves. Fix by nailing top edge of detail strip using 10mm galvanised clout nails. Form the drip edge either dressing into gutter; or nailing to fascia at 5cm centres.

Ensure the shingles are positioned square to the line of the eaves and verge. Horizontal shingle tile alignment is created by Interlocking side slots to the edges of the shingles. Vertical shingle tile alignment is created by opening guide slots in the top of the shingle strip into which the next course is engaged.

Overlay the detail strip at the eaves with the base course of shingles nailed using 20mm galvanised clout nails, applied in line with the tile tab joint just above the bitumen adhesive strip. (5 fixings per strip)

The fixing of the eaves course of roofing tile shingles is completed by applying felt lap adhesive onto the detail strip below the tile tabs to secure them to the detail strip.

Lay the shingles diagonally across the roof taking care to keep them square to the line of the eaves and verge. Start shingle tile course with cut lengths to form a broken bond patten.

First prepare the joint by cleaning off roof debris. Lift the tile tab and heat the bitumen adhesive strip on the lower course with a high performance hot air gun.

Press the tile tab down with a batten. Check the bond after cooling and apply gun applied felt lap adhesive if so required.

Apply felt lap adhesive onto the detail strip, then overlay the roofing tile shingles cut to the verge edge. Nail the shingles centre line at verge to fully secure shingles in place.

Mark out and unroll the detail strip along the ridge line secure by nailing edge at 10cm centres using 20mm galvanised clout nails. On exposed sites apply felt lap adhesive as required.

Cut shingles with knife against a deep sided spirit level / batten to protect fingers should the blade slip. Always mark out and cut the underside of the shingle to reduce wear on the knife blade.

As an alternative to using detail strip for the ridge detail you can produce shingle ridge tiles from roofing tile shingle strips, creating an attractive tile finish to your building. See below:

3d Wall Boards / Panels

The ridge tiles are positioned on the roof and nailed through the lapped section using 20mm large headed galvanised clout nails.

The bitumen strip is then heated and the joint consolidated with pressure from a batten. On exposed locations reinforce the tile lap bonding with felt lap adhesive applied in a continuous bead as required 2.5cm from edge of tile.
